Boss rider "Careless" Carmody is made sheriff of an Arizona frontier town by Chicago swindler Prentice. The naive Carmody actually believes Prentice to be on the up and up and vouches for him in a land deal with Ruth Fellowes. Taken to the cleaners, so to speak, Ruth blames Carmody, who, in love with the girl, follows Prentice back to Chicago.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Lambert Hillyer (8 July 1889 – 5 July 1969) was an American film director and screenwriter. He directed over 160 films between 1917 and 1949. He also wrote for 54 films between 1917 and 1948. He was born in South Bend, Indiana and died in Los Angeles, California. His mother was the film character actress Lydia Knott.
