After serving a 15-year prison term, Hesan (played by Wang Jingchun) is released from prison. His parents are deceased, and his wife has remarried with their son (played by Wang Heshi). Hesan has repented and wants to live a good life in the next half of his life. He has tried several jobs, but none of them have gone well. He hears that his son is in Hainan but has changed his name. Hesan immediately decides to go there to find his son who he hasn't seen for many years.

Wei Shujun (Chinese: 魏书钧; born 2 February 1991; Beijing) is a Chinese filmmaker. He graduated from Communication University of China. He is the youngest Chinese director to be shortlisted for the Busan Film Festival. In May 2018, "On the Border" directed by him won the Special Mention Award in the Short Film Competition at the 71st Cannes Film Festival. In June 2020, his directed work "Striding Into the Wind" was shortlisted for the 73rd Cannes Film Festival.
