Suave French actor Philippe Martin provokes a scandal when, in a darkened theater, he mistakes young Monique for his mistress, Yvonne, and tries to kiss her. Charged with assault, the quick-thinking Philippe claims it's French tradition to do as he did, and is let go. To his surprise, Philippe learns that Monique has paid his fine. As the tabloids exploit the situation, Monique dates Philippe, until a photo appears of him kissing Yvonne.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Rowland Vance Lee (born September 6, 1891, Findlay, Ohio — died December 21, 1975, Palm Desert, California) was a U.S. film actor, director, writer, and producer. His acting profession was fairly short lived. His main profession was directing, but he would write scripts on occasion. He worked at Fox, Paramount , Warners and RKO. Lee directed the 1940 black-and-white film The Son of Monte Cristo, starring Louis Hayward, Joan Bennett and George Sanders. He was one of the 11 co-directors of Paramount Pictures' all-star revue Paramount on Parade (1930). He also directed The Guilty Generation (1931), Zoo in Budapest (1933), Son of Frankenstein (1939), The Tower of London (1939) and The Bridge of San Luis Rey (1944).
