Sofia Modica suffers from the fact that her mother betrayed the family to the police in Dortmund. She went into hiding with her father Luca and Pippo in Munich. The hope that they can quickly travel on to Calabria is a small consolation for Sofia. They are dependent on the Italian entrepreneur Domenico Palladio, a high-ranking member of the 'Ndrangheta.

The Namibian police rule out an accident and the victim's wife and business partner Maja Reichardt is suspected to be involved in the death of her husband. She has only two hours to convince the German embassy staff of her innocence. If she fails she will be transferred to the local judiciary facing months of pretrial detention. Unfortunately diplomatic officer Kirsten Buresch who has to take the final decision feels that Maja is suffering from paranoia and therefore might have had a reason to kill her husband.

Requiem

Michaela, an epileptic, enrolls in college to study education. She goes off her medication and soon begins hearing voices and seeing apparitions that tell her to avoid religious objects, although she is devoutly Roman Catholic. One priest scoffs at the idea that Michaela could be possessed by demons, but a younger pastor arranges an exorcism for the young woman.
