After being released from a juvenile detention center, Wellington finds himself alone and adrift on the streets of São Paulo, without any contact from his parents and lacking the resources to rebuild his life. During a visit to a porn theater, he encounters Ronaldo, a mature man, who teaches him new ways of surviving. Gradually, their relationship turns into a conflicting passion, oscillating between exploitation and protection, jealousy and complicity.

From the end of the Years of Lead, cultural movements that were previously stifled by censorship began to swarm across Brazil. Between the last dictatorial term and the Sarney government, musicians, actors, visual artists and all kinds of people emerged wanting to express themselves through art. Contradictorily, one of Sarney's first acts in power is to censor a work by filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard, a pioneer of the Nouvelle Vague.

The Other Side

Ricardo is a transvestite. After a failed attempt of suicide, he has to come back to his roots and to relearn how to live with the inspiring help of his sister and, mostly, of his nephew Vasco, who has Down syndrome.
