A Taste of Life

When her husband, struggling lawyer Horace Dillingham, is unable to provide adequate money for her insatiable desire for expensive cherries, Kitty Dillingham goes to work as a stenographer for him. One day while Horace is out of the office, Kitty mistakes Jonas Collamore, a defendant in a divorce suit for whom Horace is acting, for an important client. Kitty agrees to lunch, and, swallowing many maraschino cherries along with their cocktails, becomes drunk. Jonas takes her to a nearby inn where they are followed by Mrs. Collamore's detectives, who then summon Mrs. Collamore and her lawyer Horace.

Ray and Roy Cheep are both in love with the charming manicurist, but each is unaware of his brother's "affairs." The lady, however, encourages both of them. The two boys are hard up, but live in hopes of their rich uncle loosening up with a substantial allowance. Finally the uncle tells them that he will give $1,000 to the one who marries first. They each go off for a license and a minister, but when they arrive at Miss Charmer's house they find her about to go out with uncle. Ruth meets and falls in love with the handsome lifesaver, and he falls an easy victim of her charms. Father Dippy also succumbs to cupid's arrow and becomes madly infatuated with Miss Fascination. When father sees Ruth and the life-saver together he flies into a rage and takes her home. A day or two later Mr. Dippy and Ruth are again at the beach. Mr. Dippy sees Miss Fascination and she takes him canoeing. The canoe is overturned and Mr. Dippy, who is unable to swim, calls for help. Mr. Life Guard and Ruth go to his assistance. The novel way in which the pair force him to consent to their marriage is extremely funny.

He dances very rudely with Louise, and out of nervousness admits that he is only a milkman. Charles responds angrily, and pretends that this was a joke that his friends had arranged; he then tries to hit Kees and his friends. Louise stops him, and they kiss, once again in love.
