Carmina Burana - Carl Orff in Venedig

The Choir and Orchestra of the La Fenice Theatre, conducted by Fabio Luisi, take over Piazza San Marco in Venice for a grandiose concert. Facing the basilica, the musicians perform the famous cantata "Carmina burana", twenty-four medieval poems set to music by Carl Orff between 1935 and 1936.

This is a movie about Uruguayans who want to make fiction films. We visited various filmmakers seeking to capture the enormous diversity of stories, realities, and sensibilities through the scripts they are writing. We get to know their neighborhoods and homes, and then we get closer to the ways in which each of them adapt the fantasies that have been born in their minds and hearts. In this way, we portray how they experience cinema and what would mean for them to make their film come true.

The Forbidden City Concert: Carmina Burana

A spectacular concert at the site of Beijing’s Forbidden City. The concert features the renowned Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Long Yu, who perform Orff’s Carmina Burana with Aida Garifullina, Toby Spence and Ludovic Tézier, before being joined by Daniil Trifonov for Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 and Mari Samuelsen for Max Richter’s Violin piece "November". The king married an intelligent and beautiful peasant girl, but he was not very smart himself, and his wife's superiority offended him. He sent his wife away, however, allowing her to take with her what she holds most dear. She gave the king a sleeping drink, and when he fell asleep, she took him to her hut: he was the most precious to her. Touched, the king returned his wife to the palace.

Sweet Hunters

An ornithologist goes on a field trip to a deserted island near the mainland with his wife and small son, and is joined by the wife's sister, who is getting over an abortion; later, an escaped convict is discovered. A situation which may seem naturalistic enough, but the form never is: incidents are isolated, cross-relations are oblique, emotions are unexplained.

LBJ

This is a montage of different images from the JFK, Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy triumphs and assassinations, all three events being observed by Lyndon Johnson as the dark figure who is plotting the anti-black rights movement.
