Dérailler

Dérailler is an experimental short film of approximately 3 minutes that mixes animation techniques and live action. The entire production was done on the train, round trip, between Toronto and Vancouver. Directly inspired by the environment and the experience of travel, the film takes the audience into the cabin where it was made and where one's thoughts can only wander as they follow the winding railways through ever-changing landscapes. It is a contemplative, aesthetic and sensitive film.

Society of Clothes

When morning arrives in Society of Clothes, shirts and pants step outside the closet, transforming into living entities. In the world of the film, everyone exists solely as clothes, wandering into the streets bodiless and faceless. But the routine of this strange place is disrupted one day when a human child with flesh and bones appears, turning their everyday existence upside down.

Theodore Ushev: Unseen Connections

While visiting his native country to shoot his first live-action film (PHI 1.618), animation filmmaker Theodore Ushev recounts the highlights of his life in Bulgaria and recalls the various underground artistic movements that have influenced him. Featuring archival footage, film clips and talking-head segments with friends and family, this fascinating documentary takes a personal and political dive into the teeming creative universe developed through experience with people and events by the award-winning director of LIPSETT DIARIES, BLIND VAYSHA and THE PHYSICS OF SORROW.

Solid Ground is a poetic and sound-rich travelogue—a personal journal that reveals the thoughts of an expatriate returning to her native land. Exploring the conscious, the unconscious and the self, By Winds and Tides takes a deep experimental dive into the birth of an idea—how it takes shape, how it is released. An allegorical quest, the film combines images and words into a singular sigh.
