One Revolution Per Minute

One Revolution Per Minute

ONE REVOLUTION PER MINUTE is a short film I made to explore my fascination with artificial gravity in space. It takes place aboard the "SSPO Esperanta" - a planetary orbiter that spins around itself at a rate of one revolution per minute (1 RPM). With a radius of 450 meters, the spin generates artificial gravity with an effect of approximately 0.5 g along its main deck.

GO INCREDIBLY FAST

GO INCREDIBLY FAST

The film is about the immense distances between stars and the long durations we would have to endure in order to traverse them, even if utilizing methods of propulsion at the very limits of scientific knowledge. Ultimately, it comes down to our understanding of physics and the fundamental laws that govern the Universe. If we ever want to travel to stellar destinations beyond our solar system, within the limits of a human lifetime - we will need to find ways to go incredibly fast.

Wanderers

Wanderers

Wanderers is a vision of humanity's expansion into the Solar System, based on scientific ideas and concepts of what our future in space might look like, if it ever happens. The locations depicted in the film are digital recreations of actual places in the Solar System, built from real photos and map data where available. Without any apparent story, other than what you may fill in by yourself, the idea with the film is primarily to show a glimpse of the fantastic and beautiful nature that surrounds us on our neighboring worlds - and above all, how it might appear to us if we were there.
