Fragments of an Unknown Friend

In 2007 Cristina Vázquez, a native of Posadas, settled in Buenos Aires, built a life, made new friends. I am one of her new friends. We work together in a restaurant. In that place happens the police raid that turns my friend Cristina into the queen of the hammer: a young woman rampant, drug addict and promiscuous who is also a murderer. Months later, without evidence, she is tried and sentenced to life imprisonment. Fragments of an unknown friend in the story who wrote to Cristina Vázquez in the perfect suspect. A story that, without convincing evidence, is still in jail today.

A Family Submerged

Marcela’s world becomes strange and unfamiliar after her sister Rina dies. She feels lost in her own house, and her relationship with her husband and children seems to suffer. But when Nacho, a young friend of her daughter’s, unexpectedly drops by, she starts to talk and walk with him. Gradually Marcela begins to have conversations with relatives from another dimension.

The Snatch Thief

In the Argentinian city of Tucumán, Miguel is making a living as a “motochorro”, a thief who snatches people’s belongings fromhis motorbike. When he steals the purse of Elena, an old woman, he ends up hurting her badly. After the brutal incident, Miguel is plagued by guilt and unable to forget about his victim. In an attempt to make things right, he conceals his true identity from the old woman and starts to take care of the injured and unsuspecting Elena. The closer he gets to her the more he becomes entangled in his own lies. Afraid of telling Elena the truth, Miguel continues to be haunted by his past and is unable to find true redemption.

Overava

Overava, which in Guaraní means shiny, makes reference to the treasures hidden underground in Paraguay in the mid-19th century, during the Triple Alliance War. According to folk tales, the owners of these valuables never unearthed them because they were cruelly killed during the war. However, their greed condemned their spirits to keeping watch over them. Lights, trees with blue flames, headless dogs and white animals show up at night during bad weather. Everyone knows about the legend, many have seen the ghosts, some treasure hunters go out every night searching for the gold that is hidden only a few feet deep, but few know the secret of how to create an emphatic connection with the former owners to get them to hand over the treasures.
