Cenizas

As Cotopaxi spews ash, issuing an eerie penumbra over Quito, a young woman confronts dormant familial conflicts. Desperate for a place to store her things as volcanic disaster looms, Caridad turns to her long-estranged father Galo for help. Galo abandoned Caridad’s mother long ago and is eager to make amends, but questions concerning the nature of his transgressions linger, straining communication between father and daughter and casting grave doubts over the possibility of reconciliation.

Roslik and the Village of Suspiciously Russian-looking People

Dr. Vladimir Roslik was born and raised in the town of San Javier, founded by Russian immigrants on the banks of the Uruguay River, and graduated as a doctor in Moscow in the late 1960s during the Cold War. He later decided to return to his small town in Uruguay to practice his profession, for which he obtained the affection and respect of the community. Vladimir Roslik was assassinated in 1984 during the dictatorship during a torture session, and it is considered the last death of the Uruguayan military dictatorship. Today, more than 36 years after his crime, it is still not known who the intellectual authors of the military operation that caused his death were. This documentary traces the life of Mary and Valery, the widow and son of Dr. Vladimir Roslik. They are currently seeking to heal a wound that is theirs, and of their community, as victims of an irrational political and ethnic persecution, under the shadow left by a law that prevented justice for the murders.

A Moonless Night

A divorced taxi driver shows up with a black eye at the home of his ex-wife’s new family; he’s been invited to dinner and he desperately wants to reconnect with his young daughter. A professional magician’s car breaks down and he ends up spending an emotionally intense night with a young, widowed toll booth worker. A singer songwriter serving a lengthy prison sentence is released for one night to perform at a local community centre. These three deeply engaging stories about yearning for connection unfold in parallel, one New Year’s Eve in a small town in central Uruguay, balancing the universality of human suffering with a powerful sense of hope.

Caddies

Liya and her younger brothers, Cocoa and Chino, work as caddies at the luxurious golf club "Cantegril" in Punta del Este, Uruguay, and they live with their children in the illegal settlement called Kennedy, located next to the club. Accustomed to being always in the background, they now face the possibility of winning a labor lawsuit that would allow them gain control over their own destinies and those of their families.

The Dead Man
