Voices Through Time

The passing of the seasons in the Mantua town of Castellaro follows the seasons of the life of its inhabitants. Thus, alongside the games of childhood, the first disappointments, the dances in the farmyard, the thwarted loves, the happy weddings and the nostalgia for the youth that fades away, life is always the same with television as its only companion. The arrival of autumn with its unexpected rains changes the life of the people of the town while the river flows inexorably. The first snow of winter whitens the roofs of the houses and invites children to play on the frozen lake.

The Second Time

A convicted terrorist out on parole meets the man she nearly killed 15 years before without recognizing him. He does so but decides to keep quiet and starts to spend time with her — desperate to know the motivation behind her violent acts.

Pereira Declares

Lisbon, 1938. Mr. Pereira is the editor of the culture section of an evening paper. Although fascism is on the rise in Europe, like in nearby civil war Spain or even inside Portugal itself in the form of Salazar's regime, Pereira only concerns himself with writing bios and translating French novels. Towards Evening

Italy, 1977. Professor Bruschi is a retired widower who lives according to a strict routine he set for himself. An ardent old-style communist, he has always been at odds with the unconventional lifestyle led by his son and his hippieish girlfriend Stella. When their four-year-old daughter is left in his care out of the blue after the two break up, the old professor becomes a sort of father figure to the girl, growing fond of her. However he's once again challenged when Stella also arrives for a stay in his elegant villa, reclaiming custody of her daughter.
