Lovers' Scraps

Belly dancer, Nahed Afify, is in the middle of a career crisis, so she distracts herself through multiple affairs. She ends each by collecting a fabric scrap from each lover’s clothes to form a lovers’ quilt. When she meets businessman, Moustafa, in Hurghada, she thinks he is another passing affair, but falling in love with him might mark the end of collecting lovers’ scraps in her life.

Wafaa (Hanan Turk) is in love with Khalid(mustafa amar), her class-mate at University, but Khalid seems to like her cousin Rania (Mona Zaki) When Wafa finds out about this, she tries to lead Rania towards him

Lamada

Lamia is an active girl also known as Lamada, who graduates from university, but fails to find a job and finds herself unemployed for several years. She takes matters into her own hands and decides to go into the desert with a few friends to cultivate a patch of it and build a community of their own. However, this angers some senior officials and they try to seize their project.

Gabr Elkhawater

Nawal is a schizoid patient residing at a mental asylum in Alexandria. After her ex-husband takes away her only son. Dr. Shaker sympathizes with Nawal and decides to help her, but he soon discovers that the asylum's chief is planning to use the patients in unsafe experiments.

The Lady from Cairo

In 1990, Moumen Smihi briefly re-located to Cairo in order to work in the shadow of one of the world’s largest commercial film industries. The film that resulted from his Cairo sojuourn is a complex, painterly critique of the Egyptian musical and cinema star system. At the same time, the film shows the divergent states of possibility or despair faced by men and women within a changing Egyptian society. Smihi’s film plays out over thirty years and the events of the Nasserite years and the Palestine / Israel conflict become integral to the narrative. By blending newsreel footage with his own lush cinematography, Smihi creates a complex portrait of contemporary Egyptian society in the post-war years.
