Hossein Shahabi (Persian: حسین شهابی‎) is an Iranian film director, screenwriter and film producer He belongs to the third generation of the new wave of Iranian cinema. After graduation from studying classical music at Tehran University, he has written, directed and produced 20 shorts, 10 fictional features (for video release in the Iranian market) and 3 features, for the theatrical release, some of which have won prizes in the local and international film festivals. The Bright Day (2013) has been his debut, which was well received by the critics and it was nominated in four categories in Fajr International Film Festival, Tehran (Feb. 2013) and won two Honorary Diplomas. The Bright Day had its international premiere at the competition in Mar del Plata film festival, (2013) and got a special mention of the jury. It was also win Silver Pheasant Award and a cash prize for The Best Debut Director of the 19th International Film Festival of Kerala, India the Sale is second long feature film of hossein shahabi.For the first time in the 21st film festivals Vesoul France is on the screen.

Yahya is a middle-aged man who lives in a small town, a place where he can hide and forget his past, connected to the repression in Iran. One day, his son Nima leaves the house and disappears. Gradually, he distanced himself from Marta, his lover, and sought refuge alone. So, the police department calls and informs that a body that cannot be identified has been found, and Yahya is convinced that his son ran away because he found out his secret. To find him, Yahya will have to face his memories.

The Sale

Forough is a middle aged woman whose husband has temporarily married with another woman. Even though that was kept secret from her, but his action is considered legal in Iran. Now the husband is in prison, due to not being able to pay second wife’s “Mehrieh” (the bride’s marriage portion).The second wife intends to receive her Mehrieh by asking the court’s permission to sell his house. Forough, the first wife, in order to not lose her home, intends to sell all she has to pay for her husband’s debt and release him from the jail.
