African Bride

Retired Belgian paratrooper Gilbert lives in Diani Beach, on the Kenyan coast. Here, he enjoys the climate, the beer and the local women. It is not hard to find a nice lady, because the most beautiful women in Kenya move here to find a ‘mzungu’, a Western man. Yet, it turns out to be hard to find true love. Time and again, Gilbert suspects his girlfriends of just being after his money. But are they? Or is it his troubled past that keeps haunting him?

Killing Time reconstructs an old murder, and shows the impact on the family members and victims during the day of execution. The family of the victims and the prisoner, the guards in the towers, the pastors, the journalists, the handful of demonstrators: everyone has his own way of killing the last few hours of Elroy Chester’s life. Through the eyes of grandmother Rumidjah, a poor old Christian woman living in the slums of Jakarta, we see the economical changing society of Indonesia and the influence of globalization reflected in the life of her juvenile granddaughter Tari and her sons Bakti and Dwi.

Lomax the Songhunter

Alan Lomax (1915-2002) was a song collector who recorded ordinary people, who gave their heart and soul in front of his microphone. The film maker decides to search for people Lomax recorded, travelling through Europe in an old Volkswagen. His journey leads him past desolate Scottish islands, through the withered interior of Spain and to isolated Italian mountain villages. The search is combined with conversations with colleagues and friends of Lomax. Throughout the movie, every now and then we return to a frail but happy 86-year old Lomax. In this passionate and musical roadmovie we slowly discover why folk music can be so pretty and what could have once possessed the legendary Alan Lomax.

Adriaans plaag

An almost bankrupt pig farmer is blackmailed by a shady trader who supplies him with contaminated pig feed and starts carrying on with his wife. Then, swine fever breaks out on the farm. In the hope that the outbreak will go by unnoticed, the farmer buries his dead pigs on a corner of his farmland. The trader catches him in the act.

Little Sister

After several years without contact, Martijn visits his sister Daantje, who just started to live on her own in Amsterdam. He tells her he is going to make a documentary from her life, and enters her home life with a video camera.
