The Black Hole

A comical triptych about residents in an apartment block district who long for a better life. When a black hole mysteriously appears in a lilac bush, they will have to face aliens, a giant spider, and an Austrian in breeches.

Intermission

A young teacher Tanya is taking a school theater group to a festival in Sochi. For the sake of order, the head teacher of the same school, Maria Genrikhovna, is traveling with them. Tanya is not enthusiastic about the boss's eye, but Maria Genrikhovna quickly breaks all stereotypes about head teachers. In her face, Tanya finally finds herself a worthy adult - either a role model, or a mother, or a mentor. Meanwhile, the festival insistently demands a return to reality - the organizers demand to change the name of the performance, the poster, and, preferably, the worldview. Choose the path of compromise for the sake of children or take a principled position? In any case, Tanya and Maria Genrikhovna will have to answer to twelve teenagers who are experiencing their first dramas at the festival.

Silent Trilogy

Flocks

Rascist comments make her doubt her new crush's intentions. Selma gets trapped in tunnels during choir practice, confronting her fears in the darkness. Piera Niillas, a Saami activist, fights for a society free from oppression. The Quiet Man reflects on the diverse experiences of city life. The multi-story Flocks portrays minority experiences in contemporary Finland, touching on belonging, rejection, acceptance, and the complexities of Finnish identity and relationships. This fictional film sheds light on marginalized voices and societal issues, immersing characters and viewers in tense social realities.

The Tyrant

Family Time

It’s Christmas time and the family has gathered. Everything goes on as it did the previous Christmases, with grandpa drinking too much and grandma trying to keep everyone in the mood. After the Christmas holidays, everyone returns to their own homes until it's time to gather again, this time for a funeral.

Franky Five Star

When things get too much, Franky checks into a hotel, which exists only in her head. The hotel is the home of four entirely different personalities, who alternately rule over her actions in real life.

Compartment No. 6

A young Finnish woman escapes an enigmatic love affair in Moscow by boarding a train to the arctic port of Murmansk. Forced to share the long ride and a tiny sleeping car with a larger than life Russian miner, the unexpected encounter leads the occupants of Compartment No. 6 to face major truths about human connection.

Fucking with Nobody

Fiction and auto-fiction crash and melt into each other, as writer-director Hannaleena Hauru plays the lead role of an ever-single film director Hanna.

Spiral

Any Day Now

Bahman, Mahtab, Ramin and Donya Mehdipour are enjoying a perfect summer in a small Finnish town. Their routines are fractured by a negative decision on their application for asylum by the Finnish Immigration Service. But life must go on and the 13-year-old Ramin is about to enter an entirely new school, junior high. The Mehdipours use their last chance to appeal but continue their everyday lives, fuelled by their exceptionally positive outlook and attitude.
