General Wang-gun marches on the capitol and overthrows the usurper Ku-jin who had slain the last king of the Shilla Dynasty. Wang-gun becomes king and begins a new era in Korean History--the Koryo Dynasty.

Elegy of Ren

Simon, a painter, regains the use of his hands thanks to therapy administered by Ren. Later, when Simon is kidnapped by communists and forced to paint a portrait of Stalin, Ren again helps him by assisting in his escape. Simon's wife, however, is less than pleased at their growing friendship and becomes determined to keep them apart.

Homebound

A writer who was disabled during the Korean War is now contributing a serial to a newspaper. His wife, who once adored him, is tempted by a young man she happens to know. But he overlooks her affair thanking her for her utmost care up until that time. Then the young man asks her to leave with him for a faraway place.
