Different groups of people wander in a rainy, windy, dark world. They spend time together, trying to get away from their depressing jobs, meandering constantly towards a disturbing surreal queer fantasy.

Longing Souls

The 10-year-old Camila spends the summer with her grandmother, almost exclusively in the company of women. They lovingly look after each other; cook, eat and bathe together; care for their skin and talk a lot. Camila quickly realises that there is more that binds them together than mere kinship: a curse is said to have been cast on the women in the family, causing unhappiness in their relationships. This belief is convenient, given that Camila longs for nothing more than her parents’ separation.

Dry Wind

The area around Catalan in Brazil’s state of Goiás is dry, very dry. Sandro’s life here is somewhat monotonous. He works in a fertiliser factory, goes swimming and spends his evenings doing jigsaw puzzles of landscapes. When Maicon, a man straight out of a Tom of Finland illustration, shows up in their small town and flirts with Ricardo, Sandro’s burgeoning feelings of jealousy set a change in motion.

Paulistas

Paulistas and Soledade are two rural regions located in the state of Goiás. In the early nineties the rural exodus was intensified with the expansion of monoculture farming and exploitation of water resources. Since 2014, there is no more young people living in the region. It's July, vacation time. Time when the children visit their parents.

A Time to Kill, A Time to Die

In the countryside in Brazil, a group of boys hangs out around a gas station with its manager, Élcio. The men drink beer, do lots of macho stuff, play soccer. In the midst of this, there is an exchange of looks that demonstrates repressed desires, the need to sublimate oneself to be in tune with the rest of the world.

Tudo que movimenta

In Brazil's countryside, small rural communities hold stories of people who detached themselves from their roots in search of a better life in urban centers. The population of these districts, depleted and aged by the migration of their youth, lives in a culture of 'absence,' nurturing longing for the children, grandchildren, and siblings who left the countryside behind in pursuit of the big city dream. The documentary provides a glimpse into the solitary daily lives of the residents of Belisário and portrays rural exodus from an inverse perspective: through the changes in the dynamics of the families remaining in the countryside. In other words, the changes in the lives of those who stay when others depart.
