The Drunkmen’s Marseillaise

In the summer of 1961, a group of young Italian anthropologists made a clandestine journey through Spain, in order to record popular songs that supported anti-Franco resistance. As a result of their work, they were prosecuted and their recordings were censored. Sixty years later, and guided by Emilio Jona, aged 92, the last living member of that group of travellers, we recover the unpublished recordings and reconstruct the journey, today, across an emotional and political landscape, regaining historical memories through these songs, as relevant today as they were then.

Tolyatti Adrift

A portrait of the disenchanted youth of the city of Tolyatti, once a symbol of Soviet progress and the automobile, now devastated by economic decline. Laura Sistero encounters an aimless young generation, who express their dreams of escape through crazy races in old patched-up Ladas. A cinematic object is propelled by spectacular skids to the rhythm of an electro-rock soundtrack.

Everyday Is Like Sunday

Thoughts, sometimes just numbers, reach us from offscreen almost like music, like a mantra or a prayer. What we see are circular fragments from familiar spaces: a mirror, a magnifying glass. A day like any other day: without medication, or perhaps better with? A film like the investigation of an uncertainty principle: do we really see better with a magnifying glass? A face scratched out of the family album: the gap is draped with flowers and cut-out pictures of clothes and finally filled again by a drawing.

The Outsider

Sito hates the countryside, the smell of slurry and his village life, but he has never left the rural area where he was born, nor does it seem that the possibility of doing so can end his discomfort. Attracted by a strong desire towards the male erotic, Sito lives immersed in a crusade to destroy the stimuli that connect him with those repressed feelings that he has latent inside him. From these circumstances, violence appears uncontrollably.

The Perseids

Aragon, Spain. After living through her parents' divorce, Mar arrives in the summer in a mysterious town where she is fascinated by the horrifying stories about the Civil War and its terrible consequences told by members of a group of teenagers who seem to live according to rules that are strange to her.
