Last Song in Paris

Louie (Leslie Cheung), a spoiled pop star, has a one-night stand with beautiful dancer, Anita (Anita Mui). When Anita tells Louie that she dreamed of becoming a singer, he brings her to the stage and becomes a star. Anita has fallen in love with Louie, but Louie loves Julia (Joey Wong). However, Louie later finds out that Julia is dating his father, Kent (Paul Chu). Louie then leaves Hong Kong and heads to Paris leaving his career behind. Then he meets, Yuan Yu-shih (Cecilia Yip), a Vietnamese refugee that suffers from a war wound. In Paris, Louie lives his new life happily as a dishwasher with his new lover. However, his past life starts to come back when Anita comes to pay a visit.

Working Class

Yam, Sunny and Ah Hing are buddies and all dismissed creating havoc in their jobs. The trio is employed by a noodle factory, which has a very poor labor relationship. The manager, supervisor and foreman are always picking on their subordinates. Finally the workers decide to take an united front to oppose their superiors.

To Marry a Ghost

Revolutionary youth Xie Jian Ming is killed by corrupt officials near the lighthouse, leading to rumors of his ghost haunting the town. Ming’s fiancée, He Mingzhu, hides his death from his mother. When Ming’s “ghost” appears, Zhu vows to marry him, holding a midnight wedding to fulfill his mother’s wish. Suspecting Ming is alive, the Police Chief arrests Zhu and Ming’s mother. Ming’s friend, Law Sagull, rescues Zhu, convincing her to join the underground movement. They disguise themselves to help Ming’s mother escape, but Ming fails to free her. Later, Ming appears at a celebration to perform, as the underground group surrounds the officials. Ming confronts and kills the Police Chief, revealing he survived and that another comrade was tortured in his place. Reunited, Ming and Zhu join the revolutionary cause.

The Red Rattlesnake

'Agent Number Two' Lee Kwok-wai of the resistance troops Red Rattlesnake sets off for Guangzhou to assist Agent Number One in rescuing their comrade Pang Yau-lan from the puppet army. Lee approaches his former lover Lam Ying-tsi, the mistress and trusted aide of the puppet commander Wong Tai-wai, who has fallen prey to the lip service of the beautiful and smart songstress Pak Lai. The Diary of a Husband, Part 2

In this 1960s family comedy though, marriage is attached with a string of feudal obligations. Shun (Cheung Ying-choi) and Sum (Nam Hung) are happily married with a son. Shun's childless uncle from the US proposes to take away their son as his own and, when the couple refuse, demands that Shun marry a second wife to bear him an offspring. The couple in distress team up with their naughty friends in playing a game of bluff, which sets off a series of whimsical and side-splitting sequences. Director Chor Yuen tied the knot with actress Nam Hung three years after the film's release, leading to one of the most celebrated marriages in Hong Kong cinema.

Rose in Tears

The creative person torn between ideals and reality is one of Chor Yuen's favourite characters in his 1960s films. Another favourite subject is the rose, not only featured in the title of several films but is also the name of the production company he formed with his future wife, Nam Hung, who also stars in most of its productions. Rose in Tears is in fact the company's inaugural project. The story features two painters, one famous and the other struggling but both infatuated with the same delicate rose of a woman, negotiating their ways through art, commerce and love. With this heart-tugging story, Chor finds a vehicle for his baroque impulses, relishing in lavish images and over-the-top emotions.

My Intimate Partner

Adapted from a popular 'three dime novel' the story revolves around two down-and-out buddies, one streetwise and quick-witted the other naïve and kind-hearted. This oddball duo go through up and downs and eventually get their break in life.

The Natural Son

Chor Yuen started his directorial career with a bang. From its very first image, The Natural Son establishes Chor as a filmmaker of stylistic flourish, which would be sustained in various forms throughout his long tenure. Adapted from '30 cents' pulp fiction, it is a Kong Ngee melodrama made in the studio's mould, with Westernised characters and trendy middle-class lifestyles. Yet, Chor's first film is not exempt from the social urgency that characterises the Cantonese cinema of his father, Cheung Wood-yau. The film cloaks its entertainment in a moral deliberation on blood ties, its story about the raising of a bastard child a head-on challenge of archaic family values. An ostentatious start for a colourful and eventful career.

Pressurised by people of the house over the issue of inheritance, Sun protests by declaring his love for Wan and leaves the family, with his mother, brother Man and Wan.
