Jonas has to stay at home on the farm and look after his seven younger siblings, because stepfather and stepmother are going to a wedding with eldest daughter Anna. But Jonas is curious about how the party goes and when it might be his turn to get married.

The farmers Zackris Månsson and the Kerstorps-farmer lives on each side of the river. The two villages has always been enemies. The Kerstorps-farmer dies after a beating caused by Zachris. The son Olle takes over the farm and becomes a good farmer. He has a reputation of a fancying women, but the only women he has eyes for is Zachris daughter.

Ådalen's poetry

Greger Anner, a student from Uppsala, comes to Ådalen to pursue geological studies. He meets the beautiful and imaginative chalet-girl Sago-Gunnel from Ortorpsgården and they share a blissful summer of love.
