He made his directorial debut with OSS 117 – Double Agent (1968), co-directed with Jean-Pierre Desagnat, contributing to the popular Eurospy genre of the time. Cerrato also directed Raped on the Beach (1971), a film that delved into dramatic and controversial themes. In addition to his directorial work, he appeared as an actor in films such as The Gendarme in New York (1965).
