Iceman

In August 2020, the well-known Swiss polar researcher Konrad Steffen died on the Greenland ice. It is suspected that he fell into a crevasse covered in fresh snow while on a routine trip to a measuring station. To this day, there is no trace of him.

Motherland

Director Miriam Pucitta grew up as the child of Italian migrant workers in Switzerland in the 1960s and 1970s. She herself has only fragmentary memories of this time; her mother and other relatives evade Miriam's questions. Together with her daughter Giulia, she researches her family's living conditions in Switzerland and finds a new understanding of her parents' difficult decisions.

Our Father

Toni, an attractive Catholic priest, impregnates several women in the Swiss countryside of the 1950s until the bishop revokes his priesthood. The six children only meet after Toni's funeral. They talk about their fatherless youth, their brave mothers and the fatal silence they now want to break.

Monte Verità

Hanna Leitner, wants to escape the bourgeois corset and her husband Anton, who sexually harasses her. She goes into therapy with Otto Gross and follows him to Monte Verità, where she discovers the fascination of photography.

Davos

Beneath its reassuring façade, Davos is each year at the heart of the Western and capitalistic world. Every chief of State and everyone who is someone in the money world meets with their peers in the Swiss village. What is really at stake in Davos ? Julia Niemann and Daniel Hoesl create a fascinating observational documentary in which judgement is never handed out and where the dialectics of conflicts matter more than easy and reassuring answers. The film asks the viewer some uncomfortable questions by focusing on challenges that the new global economy poses to the world.

Burning Memories

At the age of 16, Alice was a victim of abuse. Fifty years later, this repressed experience unexpectedly makes its way back into her conscience. How is it possible to repress an incident for one’s entire life? How did it happen that she made films and wrote books always about children and violence? Alice walks with her accordion through the desert, searching for answers, looking at a phenomenon that affects many women in a similar or related way.

The Guard and the Inmate

Hassan Kiko, a Syrian sex offender with multiple convictions, managed to escape from the Limmattal prison a good four years ago. He was freed by the warden Angela Magdici. The lovers lived on the run for five weeks - for them "the most beautiful time in their lives". Then the Italian police discovered and arrested them in their hideout in northern Italy. The escape of the duo moved Switzerland: never before had a warden escaped with an inmate. The incident not only caused a great stir throughout the country, but also prompted measures at the Zurich Office of Justice. The "DOK" film provides an exclusive look behind the scenes and shows what those affected say about their story - first and foremost Angela Kiko and her husband. However, their defence lawyers, the head of the Limmattal prison from which the couple had escaped at the time, as well as the director of the correctional facility where Hassan Kiko is serving his sentence, also describe their view of this extraordinary case.

Where We Belong

For Alyssia and Ilaria, every farewell is also a reunion. Just a while ago they were at the Italian Mediterranean coast, now here they are standing at a parking lot in front of an Esso gas station, waiting for their father’s car to appear around the corner.
