The Student

Roque starts University in Buenos Aires but he is not particularly interested in attending classes or working towards a degree. Instead, he dedicates his time to one of the many groups vying for control of the university, motivated less by grand political ideals than by a wish to get close to Paula, an attractive young teacher heavily involved in internal university politics.

Sidewalls

Martin is a neurotic web designer taking baby steps out of the isolation of his one-room apartment and his virtual reality. Mariana is an artist fresh out of a a long relationship. They are perfect for each other, live on the same street, in opposite buildings, but they never meet. Can the movement of a modern city of three million people bring them together?

Winter-house

The Argentine competition winner, Gonzalo Castro’s Invernadero (Winter House), offers a stylistically elegant if overlong contemplation of the experimental one-armed Mexican novelist Mario Bellatín, a famed prankster who here engages with his daughter and friends (all fictional characters) in an interrogation of biography (itself a central conceit in Bellatín’s fiction).

A group of girls and boys in their twenties settle in a country house that seems completely isolated from civilization, invited by Helena, who plans something humiliating for one of the guests.

A young Argentinian woman who works as a museum guide uses her passion - reading - as a means of expression to channel the emotional and working lives of those around her.

Devil's Point

A surgeon from Buenos Aires, wearied by personal problems and the endless cycle of work, leaves for a week's skiing vacation in the south. Instead, on impulse, he follows a young hitchhiker to a small fishing village, Devil's Point, in the north, on the coast of Uruguay. He makes fleeting acquaintance with some of the villagers, and learns that "the only thing to do in winter is to wait for summer".

About Buenos Aires

Eleven young film-makers got together to collaborate in this atypical project. Atypical not only because of its technical specs, but because of its narrative structure. There are several scenes with only the city in common, and more as a conceptual presence at that than as a precise geography. None of those scenes contains a single "story": Each one of them is part of a larger situation that we cannot see, as though the beginning and end of each "story" had to be filled in by the audience.

Sons and Daughters

We are in Argentina in 1977, a woman gives birth to twins. With the complicity of the midwife he manages to hide the child, second child. The first, a boy, is taken into custody by the regime's guards. The scene moves to the Milan of today. The young Rosa contacts Javier and tries to convince him that they are twin brothers, separated at birth. Thus, the two begin a journey to rediscover their origins and their past. A bitter reality is ready to overwhelm them ...
