The Far Traveller

When she died around 1050 AD, a littleknown Viking explorer had become the most traveled woman of the Middle Ages. She had sailed across the Atlantic Ocean eight times and her travels extended from Iceland to Greenland, North America, Scandinavia, the British Isles, through Europe, and all the way to the Vatican in Rome. She was rescued by Leif Erikson from the shipwreck that earned him the nickname Leif the Lucky. Her name was Gudrídur Thorbjarnardóttir, aka the Far Traveller.

Benny

Frequently described as the greatest boxer that Scotland has ever produced, Benny Lynch became the flyweight champion of the world. It was a sweet triumph for the man from the Gorbals, who had been raised in extreme poverty. Archive footage, animated sequences and the admiring comments of modern boxers combine to celebrate Benny’s remarkable achievements and to put his life in context. Lynch was only 33 when he died in 1946, overwhelmed by the chronic alcoholism he had been unable to defeat. Benny is an affectionate salute to the people’s champion.

Crowdie and Cream

An adaptation of the true life story from childhood of the author, Findlay J McDonald, who was born and brought up on the Isle of Harris. Set in the 1930s until he left the island after the Second World War to further his education on the mainland. The highland wit shines through despite the hardships of life on a small croft, a few acres for crops, a cow and a shed to house the loom to weave the traditional Harris Tweed.
