The Tinkling of Anklets

Thakur Ranjit Singh buys the enslaved Kajal's freedom and gives her the status of a daughter-in-law... much to the disgust of his uncle, Jasbir. When the sleazy Shakal turns up and arranges a secret meeting with Kajal, Ranjit believes that he has caught his beloved being unfaithful. He exacts a fearful retribution. Obligingly, Jasbir destroys the evidence. Ranjit finds himself being plagued by the restless spirit of Kajal as well as a suspicious policeman. Seeking respite in Bombay, he is stunned to see Kajal's doppelganger, a nurse called Kiran. Unnerved, he brings Kiran home with him and finds himself falling in love again. The mystery deepens when Kajal's vengeful spirit murders the usurper, sending Ranjit over the edge and into an asylum.

Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki

Thakur Rajnath Singh Chouhan opens a can of worms when he announces that he is going to marry a prostitute by the name of Tulsi. His mother will not even consider Tulsi as a daughter-in-law, and would prefer that he marry Sanjukta. Tulsi convinces him that he should marry the woman of his mother's choice, which he eventually does. Thereafter Tulsi gives birth to a baby boy, Ajay, and passes away. Sanjukta raises Ajay as her own child, even after the passing away of Rajnath, and even after giving birth to Pratap. Ajay is given the entire responsibility of the estate, while Pratap squanders money on courtesans and alcohol. Sanjukta trusts Ajay, until one day when a villager complains to her that Ajay has got his daughter, Geeta, pregnant; additionally she also finds out that Ajay has been misappropriating money, and also owes money to a prostitute named Leelabai, the very woman who sold Tulsi to Rajnath.

Chor Chor

A retired policeman sees a killer he thought had been dead for twenty years, and the next night he is killed. The killer is blackmailing the head of a bank, and forcing him to participate in a robbery of his own bank. He is replaced by the son of the policeman, who is hunting for his fathers killer. A rarity in 70's Bollywood since it does not contain any musical interludes.

Kora Kagaz

A chance encounter while traveling by BEST bus service in Bombay gets two young people to meet. One of which is Professor Sukesh Dutt, and the other is Archana Gupta. They meet again, and are formally introduced to each other. Both are attracted to each other, and get married. But Archana's mother does not approve of Sukesh, due to his modest income. She makes up stories about their affluence, which offend Sukesh when he finds out. As a result, there is acrimony between Archana and Sukesh, and both separate. Archana goes to live with her parents, while Sukesh relocates. Archana's family would like her to forget Sukesh, and re-marry. But Archana finds that she still has feelings for Sukesh.
