Money Quest

Ten figures walk around in a circle. All they have is a number. The “Great Zero” monitors them. Based on a dystopian parable by Oleg Sentsov, this film was created between Kyiv and the Siberian penal colony where Sentsov spent five years as a political prisoner.

Star of David Cherkassky

A vivid portrait of David Cherkassky - prominent director, animator, People's Artist of Ukraine - in his life and work. He is famous not only for his classic works such as Doctor Aybolit, Adventures of Captain Wrongel and Treasure Island, but also for his multifaceted vivid personality. The film tells the story of the author through his works: from the first to the last and incomplete ones. It is worth noting that close friends and co-authors of David, who have worked with him for many years, were invited to contribute to the film. The film used many materials: fragments of original cartoons, photographs, drawings, sketches, and newsreels of different years. Esthetically, the film is made in the spirit of Maestro Cherkassky himself, and is dedicated to his cherished memory.

The Traitor

1971, Odessa Film Studio. The KGB studio curator orders a re-edit of just finished movie about the events of Ukraine’s 1920s "civil war" of a young director in line with the Party’s view on the historical events. This re-editing work is entrusted to a young female editor, which consequently realizes she must protect the director’s vision and the safe-guard the truth about her country under Soviet occupation.

The Odessa Foundling

A lonely 70-year-old man, an eccentric artist from Odessa, Sir Pinkhus, dreams to have grandchildren. But he even does not have children. Obviously first he needs to have a son to realize a dream about having a grandson. The old man has friends at the orphanage. They choose a guy Arkasha for the role of son. Arkasha is a 50-year old bonehead who recently hit the bricks and worked at the orphanage as a stoker.

Tevye's Daughters

It is the early 20th century. Tevye the Dairyman lives in a small village in Ukraine. He is poor and believes that his daughters have one chance to escape poverty – a successful marriage. Tevye accepts a profitable proposition from a matchmaker, but his beautiful daughters have a different plan.

Ivan the Powerful

"Strong Ivan" is a film telling an outstanding life story of Ivan Firtsak who was born in June, 1899 in a Ukrainian village Bilky, Irshava district in Zakarpattia Oblast. At the age of 18 he became a performer with a Czechoslovak circus and travelled to 64 countries of the world, astonishing everybody with his victories. He was a weightlifting champion of Czechoslovakia, a bodybuilding champion of Europe. He earned the nickname Strong Ivan Croton for his incredible strength. Ivan Firtsak won a great number of single combats with famous wrestlers of the world. From hands of the Queen of England he received a helmet and a belt decorated with cold and diamonds. American press called him the strongest man of the XX century. In 1937 in the prime of his fame he came back to the homeland.
