Mountain Girl

Jella lives in a village in the mountains of Transylvania. She fights a solitary battle against the men courting her aggressively and the malevolence of the village community, her ill-reputed mother being expelled from the village for her immoral lifestyle. One day, she is attacked by a group of lads from the village. Thrown into a fright, she tries to escape across the forest, ending up near the house of Balogh Péter, a track-watchman.

Marika

Marika is adopted by Orbán Sándor after his wife dies. However, when she reaches the age of 19, he discovers she is more attractive than any of the women he knows. There are a few complications before Marika realizes that her foster father, Orbán, will make a better husband than any of the young men that are courting her.

The Borrowed Castle

Among the Gruber family, the rumor spreads like wildfire that their wealthy American relative, Menyhért Gruber, is visiting Hungary with his daughter, Mary. Various plans are devised to exploit the rich relative. The boldest of them all is the plan of Bálint Koltay, who directly pursues Mary's hand. However, the young ones fall in love with each other so deeply that Bálint stands by Mary even when the "wealthy" Gruber informs him that he's bankrupt. At this point, the only thing left to arrange is for Bálint, who poses as a landowner, to actually present a noble castle to his future father-in-law.
