Set against the backdrop of the fall out from the 2016 controversial attempted coup in Turkey, a university lecturer, a police officer, and a Kurdish artist are accused of being terrorists. Facing detention they are forced to leave their homes and loved ones behind and get out of the country. They have no choice but to join a group of migrants being illegally smuggled out of Turkey. Exodus is the story of a group of people all from different countries, facing different forms of persecution, but all with the same hope for their future, to find a place where they can find safety and freedom.

Serkan Nihat

Serkan Nihat is an award-winning London based Film-Maker working in the British TV & Film industry. Born in Edmonton, North London Serkan’s introduction to cinema was from the silver-age of Turkish cinema. Having begun in post-production Serkan was one of foremost assistant editors in the UK having worked on major UK dramas such as Spooks, Hustle, Broadchurch and Taboo. Serkan also oversaw the very first fully tapeless workflow on a drama series (Law & Order). As an editor, he has specialised in editing trailers and TV spots and feature length documentaries. Since making the transition to director, he has directed campaigns for numerous brands, and in 2018 won the Cannes Silver Dolphin award and was a finalist in the Creative pool industry awards. In 2019 he was awarded an Evcom Award for a Vogue campaign and has since won another three EVCOM awards. His short film ‘Apex’ starring Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders) and Tom Weston Jones (Dickensian) won the Cannes Short Film Competition with ‘Best film’ and ‘Audience Award.’ He directed the comedy drama pilot 'Wake Me Up' starring Charlotte Riley, T'Nia Miller (The Peripheral) and Nick Helm (Uncle). His debut feature film 'Exodus' won the Best Drama Feature award recently at the London Independent Film Festival.
