Luka Oleksyshyn

Born in Lviv, Ukraine. Luka was born in a poor Ukrainian family, his father was a theatrical actor and mother was a clothing designer in the same theater. Thats how his parents met. Growing up Luka quickly showed enthusiasm in learning languages and creating arts. By the age of 7 he learned German just by watching cartoons. At the age of 13 he picked up a video camera and tried to make his first attempts to tell a story through videos. When that didnt succeed he picked up a photo camera instead and started his career as a photographer. By 2011, young dude already was a well established photographer in his hometown and around that time he met some friends who were also interested in creating videos and short films. Luka worked on numerous projects including music videos, commercials, short films. As a DP and Director. But the childhood dream of Amerika was always in the back of his mind. So after quitting journalism school he went on a adventure of a lifetime. In 2015 Luka decided leaving his motherland and flying away to pursue filmmaking and art in California. As an immigrant he definitely seen some rough times but luck is a lady tonight. Fast forward to 2016 in Los Angeles, he established a friendship with a weed grower and went on to use all of the skills he acquired and started recording the illest weed documentary - High Landz. Luka describes creating this movie as "filmschool" High Landz is planned to be released sometime in 2021. Currently filmmaker resides in Los Angeles and has proposals to work on multiple projects.
